Tempe Rising

Does any one have any information on the huge Wespac construction project at the intersection of the 202 and 101?

A: Just a basic commercial development it looks like. What a waste to such a prime location. It would have been perfect for a new Cardinals Stadium!

Coyotes Coming to Tempe? Although I think they will still end up in downtown Phoenix sharing a new arena with the Suns, this is an interesting proposal:

Update: The Coyotes are set to announce soon. It looks like it is still going to be a toss up between Downtown Phoenix and Tempe.  http://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/news/2016/04/14/asu-tempe-site-temporary-phoenix-home-could-be.html

Tempe Town Lake to Re-Open soon: But Delayed 2 weeks.

AC Hotel (Marriot) The European styled hotel is set to open at the Hayden Ferry site next month. Will we finally have a bar and restaurant overlooking the lake? Answer: sort of – there will be one but the hotel is set back from the lake.

3/26/2015 – They finally began excavating the last empty lot at Hayden Ferry. The lot on Rio Salado right next to the condo buildings. Is this the long rumored hotel addition to the Hayden Ferry complex?

Is it an AC Marriot?

2/6/2015 – On my morning run around Tempe Town Lake I recently spotted excavation beginning on a large parcel on the north shore next to the marina – at the site of the old horse stable. For weeks the sign read only MT Builders with no information on their website. But now the project has been formally announced:

Vela at Town Lake – A 290 unit luxury apartment complex.

This looks nice and luxurious and will add to the lake front, but isn’t it time we got a place to have dinner or a cocktail on the water?

1/20/2015 – New excavation has begun on a site on the north side of the lake near the marina. Anyone have any information?

1/10/2015 – New construction sighted on Rio Salado east of Rural! Any information? Update: It’s only water main maintenance.
